About Us

The Somerset Aeroplane Company is a family-run business that carries out all aspects of aircraft restoration and maintenance. We are a father and son team and have a combined experience of 40 years in the aviation world. Our determination, work ethic and attention to detail stems from the late Bernard Childs (Paul’s father and Simon’s grandfather). He retired as chief design engineer at British Aerospace, Filton and was instrumental in the success of Concorde as well as more commonly used airliners so you could say that aviation runs in our family blood.
